Are you curious about reading literature from across the world? Would you like to encounter some of the world’s major literary works, reading across cultures and national borders, and in translation? This in-college taster session will give you a flavour of what it’s like to study and explore what global literature is, reading excerpts from two recent works of global literature.

Hannah Hutchings-Georgiou is a writer, teacher and editor based in London. She has a PhD in English Literature from UCL, an MA in Eighteenth-Century Studies from King’s College, London, a BA in English Literature from the University of Cambridge, and a Diploma in Fine Art from Camberwell College of Arts. She has taught in schools, community groups and at UCL. Her research interests focus on the construction of the human body through literary and visual material culture, contemporary artistic reconstructions of marginalised figures and forms from the Enlightenment, and the relationship between corporeality and space. Her writing is published by Prototype, Elephant Magazine, Wallpaper*, Art Monthly and many others, and she has recently written exhibition essays for Victoria Miro, theCOLAB and Cable Depot. Hannah regularly moderates arts talks for bookshops, festivals and Fane Online.

Dance the Charleston in this fun and expressive short course. Discover its influences on other social dances, experience some challenging sequences and explore improvisation to provide you with greater confidence with solo and freestyle dancing. It is not suitable for those that are new to dance. A knowledge of dance is required but, more importantly, enthusiasm and determination.

This dynamic and vibrant beginner's class combines West African dance and music with some Contemporary dance influences. The movements, energy and music will leave you energised and rejuvenated.

An introduction to the fundamentals of this famous partner dance, where you will learn and practice in a supportive and fun environment. This session is part of a series of one-day workshops. You can join more than one if you wish, as the content facilitation will vary.  These playful explorations emphasise posture, connection, and coordination, and provide a practice space for like-minded enthusiasts. Suitable for both beginners and those with some prior experience. No partner needed – come alone, with a partner or with friends.
