Ofsted: Outstanding Provider
City Lit was rated as an Outstanding provider by Ofsted following their May 2023 inspection. This recognition reflects our commitment to excellence across all areas, including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and adult learning programmes. We are proud of our vibrant community, dedicated staff, and state-of-the-art facilities, which together create an exceptional learning environment for our students.
Mayor of London Adult Learning Awards 2024
City Lit's Centre for Deaf Education was honoured as the Inclusive Provider of Adult Education at the Mayor of London Adult Learning Awards. Recognised for its long-standing commitment to Deaf education since 1919, the Centre offers programmes in BSL, English, maths, digital skills, lipreading, and support for Deaf students in mainstream courses. With over 600 Deaf students and around 100 Deaf refugees and asylum seekers, City Lit provides a unique and supportive learning environment.

Learning for Health Award: Susannah Goulding
Diagnosed with incurable metastatic cancer, Susannah Goulding turned to City Lit's art courses to explore her relationship with cancer. Through her transformative journey, she created a visual language that honestly addresses cancer, inspiring meaningful discussions and highlighting the healing potential of creativity. Susannah's resilience and dedication have profoundly impacted both students and tutors at City Lit.
Festival of Learning 2023
Tutor Award: Emma Iliffe
Emma Iliffe, passionate about Deaf culture, overcame childhood barriers to support hearing students in learning British Sign Language (BSL). Since joining City Lit in 2018, her creative teaching methods and community engagement earned her the Tutor Award at the Festival of Learning Awards, highlighting her impact on students' lives.

- Signature Hall of Fame 2022: City Lit's Centre for Deaf Education secured a place in the Signature Hall of Fame for its century long commitment to Deaf Education.
