What is the course about?

The course will cover three dances: The jovial Cha Cha Cha, the Waltz and the passionate Tango from the Ballroom field. There is no class on Saturday 30th September.

What will we cover?

Cha Cha Cha: Closed Basic Movement, Underarms Turn, Spot Turn, New York with Double Rock, Progressive Basic Fan, Alemana and 3 Cha Cha Cha
Waltz: Whisk, Progressive Chasse, Six Step Turn and the Natural Spin Turn
Tango: Tango Walk, Closed Promenade, Promenade Link, Reverse Turn Open Ending, Lady Swivel, Rotation and Open Fan Step.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Perform and incorporate steps into an improvers routine.
Perform the three dances with correct footwork and to the correct tempo of music.
Demonstrate confidence in dancing with different partners and putting your skill set to good use even outside of the class.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is aimed at those students who have already completed the beginners course or who have sufficient dance experience.
Throughout the improvers course you will be encouraged to develop and polish your existing skills as well as learn new steps and techniques. You will be taught and shown the steps and then you will practice and repeat.

In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions.
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within the three dances.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The tutor will explain what steps, techniques and dances will be covered within the class. He will then demonstrate and explain verbally each step and movement. You will practice dancing the steps with a partner with and without music.
There will be no work to complete outside of the course but we do encourage you to practice and put your new skills to the test.

HEALTH CHECK
You may or may not be asked to participate in rigorous activity from time to time. Please consider whether you could do this, if you are in any doubt consult a medical practitioner.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

There are no additional costs. We ask our students to dress in comfortable, flexible or breathable clothes in order to be at ease when dancing. Please refrain from wearing sling backs, flip-flops or rigid trainers. It is advisable to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated and cool.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Continue with Ballroom and Latin improvers or discuss further options with your course tutor.
