What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Perform and incorporate steps into an improvers routine that you will be able to dance in the sessions and outside the studio environment.
Dance the two dances with correct footwork and to correct tempo of music.
Lead and follow different students on the course in the three dances.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is aimed at students who have completed our beginner’s course which covers the basic foundation of the these dances or students that have already the basic steps and wish to build on their existing skills.

In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions.
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within the three dances.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The tutor will initially demonstrate the steps separately for the leaders and followers and also give verbal instructions on how to dance the steps.
You will practice dancing the steps in groups then with a partner and then to music.
There will be no work outside the class but you will be given handouts regarding the steps taught, so will be able to practice the steps at home.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No other costs involved but learners are advised to wear loose fitting clothes, no trainers, flip-flops or sling back shoes and to bring a drink.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Continue with Ballroom improvers or discuss further with course tutor.
