The spectacular rise of China is one of the most significant developments of the last decades. What explains it and what does it mean for China itself and the world?

The decline of the Ottoman Empire shaped the relations with and between the Great Powers, giving birth to new countries and spheres of influence, the legacy of which is still felt to this day.

On this course you will learn everything that you need to take your functional skills Level 1 Maths exam. You will develop your mathematical skills and knowledge in working with numbers, measures, shapes and space and Handling data. This course will give you the mathematical skills appropriate to the level, and allow you to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations. By the end of the course, you will have an exams to sit which, if you pass, will give you your Functional Skills Level 1 Maths qualification.

Get inspired by trying carving techniques in stone or wood and create your own small carving in wood and stone. Suitable for anyone from beginners to experienced carvers. This course will explore the characteristics of wood and stone, lead you through the steps of design and carving, encourage you to explore and develop your ideas, and try more experimental techniques.

Do you want to develop counselling skills for paid or voluntary work? This course includes occasional weekend sessions which you will be required to join and one compulsory residential trip away.







In order to apply for this course, please ensure that:



• you have (or will have) completed an in person introductory counselling course of 30 hours, with an attendance record of at least 80% (within the last three years)



OR



• you have completed an in person introductory counselling course of 30 hours with an attendance record of at least 70%



AND



• you have completed an in person ‘Counselling introduction: advanced’ course (or equivalent) with an attendance record of at least 80% (within the last three years)



• you are able to speak and write fluently in English (level 2/GCSE).

Come and play string repertoire in a friendly group, and develop your confidence in ensemble playing. Suitable for those who have been playing violin, viola, cello or double bass for at least two years, playing at Grade 3 standard or above. To apply for the ensemble please click the pink 'Start your interview' button and someone from the music department will be in touch.

An ensemble ukulele class with individual parts. For experienced players who read chord symbols and tablature, although tab reading is not a mandatory requirement. Challenging and fun - the music/repertoire will be tailored to your various abilities.

This course is for players who have been learning violin/viola for two to three years (playing at Grade 2-3 standard), take the next step to learn vibrato, positions above 1st, and improved bow control. This course continues with Violin and viola 3B next term.

This is the third term in our beginners piano programme. If you have completed ‘Piano/keyboards 1B’ or have existing keyboard and music reading skills, this course will further develop your technique and musicianship.
