Russian is the 8th most spoken language in the world in terms of native speakers and is one of the official languages of the United Nations. It is spoken by more than 150 million people across large parts of Central Asia and Eastern Europe including in Ukraine. Some words of Russian origin include 'beluga', 'cosmonaut', and 'mammoth'.
