What is the course about?
We will clarify the use of both imperfect and present perfect tenses and their interaction.

The imperfect and the present perfect tenses as well as the interaction between the two tenses.

By the end of this course you should be able to...
- to differentiate between the imperfect and the present perfect tenses
- to use these past tenses with more confidence.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Stage 2 Upper course - Students should have done at least 2 years of French recently and be able to hold a short conversation about themselves and their daily routine and have notions of the past tense. This course is ideal for students with a A2/ B1 level or students who have enrolled for any French 2 Upper class.

You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of number for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, etc).
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
