A near-beginners’ course for pianists. If you have completed Piano/keyboards 1A or and have basic keyboard and music reading skills in C position, this course will introduce you to more notes.

A practical workshop integrating keyboard harmony with piano performance skills. Taught in-person on a grand piano, this workshop is aimed at classical pianists with a music theory standard of grade 6+ and good sheet music reading skills. We shall deepen our understanding of musical works by studying the harmonic constructs that underpin them, tackle the technical challenges they present, and explore how harmonic analysis can inform our interpretative choices. NB: no lessons on bank holiday Mondays (6 & 27 May 2024).

If you play piano at around grade 8 standard, join one of these online workshops to develop your playing by studying a wide repertoire, learning to make your own stylistic and interpretive decision under your tutor's guidance. *no class 8th Feb 2024.

If you are an advanced pianist, whether a performer or specialist teacher, continue to develop your skills, broaden your repertoire and increase your understanding of piano playing. Please contact the Music department to enquire about joining this class. NB: no break week.

If you have a minimum playing standard of grade 8, come and explore the wealth of piano repertoire, concentrating on style and period. Broaden your interpretive skills and gain experience in performance practice. NB: no break week.

This is the second year of our beginners piano programme and repertoire will be of a pre-grade 1 standard. Improve your eye/hand coordination, your reading and finger technique. NB: no lessons on May bank holiday Mondays 2024.

Move beyond grade 1 piano repertoire and develop your technique and fluency. The repertoire in this module will encompass more complex rhythm patterns and scales from the grade 2 syllabus.

A practical workshop for classical pianists who are new to studying harmony, but with piano skills of grade 5 or higher.







Taught on individual keyboards, this module focuses on the rudiments of harmonic analysis (keys, chords, chord progressions, etc.) and its relevance to approaching piano music.







You will broaden your understanding of piano repertoire by studying the harmonic constructs that underpin them.







It is recommended to complete this 3-module course in preparation for the Harmony & Piano Performance Workshop. NB: no classes on bank holiday Mondays (6 & 27 May 2024).
