Designed for people who have completed ‘English Pronunciation: stage 1’ although new students with sufficient skills can join. Develop confidence and clarity, explore diphthongs and triphthongs, inflection and the rhythms of Standard English. This term the course will be delivered in the college.

Are you a non-native fluent speaker who wants to improve your pronunciation of English and to speak the language more clearly and confidently? Work on clear formation of vowel and consonant sounds including the English neutral vowel and the distinction between voiced and unvoiced sounds. This term the course will be taught in the college.

For jazz vocalists with a sound technique and experience of jazz and Latin styles. Develop your solo performance and expand your repertoire in this further edition of our advanced class. Some repertoire (see below) and vocalese will be taught, and you will be invited to contribute and perform repertoire of your choice.

Some of the best known songs were composed by Duke Ellington, and this new course will guide you through several and prepare you to perform his remarkable work. Ideal for singers with enthusiasm for and experience in the jazz idiom. Newcomers to jazz are also welcome to join.

A study and sharing group for experienced jazz players with a good working knowledge of harmony and experience of improvising. We will focus on in-depth listening and transcription of recorded examples by jazz musicians. Sessions will include demonstration and performance opportunities. Course dates: 15 October, 12 November, 3 December, 21 January, 18 February, 17 March 2023.

It provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in our in-house theatre, supporting the CL Theatre Company's production of After Life by Jack Thorne, directed by Vernon Thompson. Suitable for beginners or those with previous experience.



Overall course dates: 22nd October to 9th December (which includes production week)



Session times: Four full Sundays 10:30- 17:30 (times alter depending on which Sunday) and five Fridays 18:15 - 21:15.

Character voices aren’t just for cartoons. Learn the tools and techniques you need to create new and unique character voices or to accurately imitate a historical or contemporary voice for animation, stage and screen. This course will be delivered in the media studio.

If you have completed Sing jazz 1, or who have equivalent experience and ability in the jazz idiom, join this class to develop your jazz conception, solo performance and expand your repertoire. Continues to Sing jazz 3 next term.

Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this choral class will give you something to look forward to on a Monday. We sing many genres from musical theatre to pop plus more traditional pieces. This course is very popular, so booking early is essential. Break week 23rd of Oct 2023.

Through a selection of 20 iconic albums, we will study the key figures, the innovators and the star soloists of 20th century jazz, as well as some important artists you might be less familiar with.

A practical workshop combining keyboard harmony and pianistic technique for classical pianists with a starting standard of grade 6. This advanced 6-module course is taught at the keyboard and takes a historical approach to harmony and technique. We discuss separate eras and their corresponding harmonic developments in each self-contained module, along with main points of evolution in pianistic technique. NB: no break week.

If you play piano at around grade 4 standard, join one of our workshops to develop your playing by studying a wide range of piano repertoire, with a focus on technique, practice and performance skills.

Continue your singing journey and explore your voice in the second year of our training programme. These classes will further develop your singing voice and musicianship skills through a selection of technical exercises and songs from a variety of genres to suit all musical tastes. Vienna in the late 19th and early 20th centuries acted as a musical magnet, attracting to it composers as diverse as Mahler, Schoenberg and Richard Strauss. Join us as we explore the music of those who were living and working in Vienna at this time, and the ideas that influenced them. NB: This course has no scheduled break week.
