A lively workshop class for singers with a solid foundation in vocal technique and musicianship: employ your vocal technique in a more flexible and artistic way and deepen your understanding of critical evaluation of singing.

If you are nervous of singing in public, scared to open your mouth or just want to know how your voice works, this course is for you. Classes are fun and cover a wide range of musical styles, so there is something for everyone. Break week 28th October 2024.

Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this choral class will give you something to look forward to on a Monday. We sing many genres from musical theatre to pop plus more traditional pieces. This course is very popular, so booking early is essential. Break week 28th of Oct 2024.

Learn more complex elements of music: figured bass, melodic and harmonic decoration, writing for instrument or voice with given accompaniment, and score analysis of both harmonic and phrase structure, style, performance and directions. Break weeks: 23 March, 1, 8 15 April 2024 and 27 May 2024.

Develop your jazz musicianship, repertoire, playing and improvising. Practise ear training, study jazz harmony, learn challenging repertoire. For players with established jazz education at foundation level. Assessment for entry to this course can be arranged after you apply to music@citylit.ac.uk. Break week: 29th October.

Sing repertoire from the 1930s to the 1950s, as sung by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Peggy Lee and Julie London. Swing tunes, easy listening genre, Latin and blues orientated repertoire. You will be encouraged to perform prepared songs as part of the course.

An exciting and rigorous one-year part-time training in the core disciplines of acting. Taught by industry professionals, this course will build your craft as an actor and is ideal for anyone intending to enter full time training at drama school.



The course fee is £2225, plus an upfront fee of £525 payable at the time of your enrolment.



If you are unable to pay the course fee upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the cost. Learn some standard repertoire and jazz protocols. Explore style, develop good timing and phrasing, breath control, and extend your vocal range. Not suitable for beginner singers but ideal for singers who are new to the jazz idiom.

Are you a non-native fluent speaker who wants to improve your pronunciation of English and to speak the language more clearly and confidently? Work on clear formation of vowel and consonant sounds including the English neutral vowel and the distinction between voiced and unvoiced sounds. This term the course will be taught online.

Discover the pleasure of playing in small, mixed instrumental ensembles, one per part, in a variety of repertoire. For classical instrumentalists at grade 5/6 or above. Due to the demanding nature of most piano parts, pianists should play at Grade 8 level or higher. Good sight reading skills and experience in chamber music are required. Break week 23rd May.

Designed for people who have completed ‘English Pronunciation: stage 1’ although new students with sufficient skills can join. Develop confidence and clarity, explore diphthongs and triphthongs, inflection and the rhythms of Standard English. This term the course will be taught online.
