Do you want to develop your English, ESOL, Maths or Digital Skills? Do you need to improve these skills to make progress at work, express yourself fully and participate in modern life? Whether English is your first or second language, you haven’t studied maths since school or you need to become confident on the computer, we can help you.

You can study on a wide range of courses from beginner to advanced and learn all the skills you need to do well at work, communicate effectively and become an active citizen. All our classes are taught by highly qualified tutors passionate about their subject.

Most of our courses are FREE if you are on a low income or claiming benefits. You will also usually need to do a pre-course assessment.

  1. Maths for life (level 1)

    Become more confident using maths in your everyday life. This course will help you understand and use maths in your daily life so that data, graphs, charts and other mathematical representations come alive. You will begin to see how mathematics is everywhere and you will develop the maths you need to participate, make progress and express yourself in a modern society, without the pressure of an exam. You will work with whole numbers, recognise the relationship between fractions and decimal numbers and work with percentages. You will work on problem-solving involving time, money and measurements, as well as be able to measure confidently and convert between units of measurement. You will be able to state properties of shapes, both 2D and 3D and be better able to interpret, discuss and comment on the graphs you see in newspapers and online.

  3. English and maths for life (pre-entry)

    Do you need help with reading and writing English? Can you write the letters of the alphabet or do you need to practise? Do you need to improve your spelling? Can you use numbers and count up to 100 or do you need help? On this course we will help you with your English and maths. You will learn how to write individual letters, spell whole words, write simple sentences, read whole words, read simple sentences and understand notices. You will become confident in your speaking. And you will also practise the maths you need for everyday life so you can shop, use money and measure things correctly.

But do you make quite a lot mistakes? Is it difficult to speak, read or write about more complicated topics? This course will help you learn more vocabulary and grammar so you can talk, read and write about more interesting everyday things and make fewer mistakes. Your will practise your speaking, listening, reading and writing so you can understand people better, talk about most daily topics, read a simple news story, and write a long email or letter.

  5. Getting Ready for Maths functional skills (level 1)

    Do you want to become more confident in your maths? Do you need to develop your maths skills for work and everyday life? This course will help you use maths to improve your daily life and enable you to

    participate, make progress and express yourself whether at work or at home or when making sense of

    information in the news such as data and statistics. At the same time you will study to gain a qualification: level 1 functional skills maths. This accreditation is the first step in showing employers and others that your maths skills are at a good level and that you can apply these to solving problems in a variety of contexts. This introductory course will prepare you for the accreditation and you need to complete it before doing the full qualification course.
