Learn in the centre of London with our in-person courses. Our purpose-built facilities in Covent Garden mean we are ideally located and easy to get to.

    An ensemble ukulele class with individual parts. For experienced players who read chord symbols and tablature, although tab reading is not a mandatory requirement. Challenging and fun - the music/repertoire will be tailored to your various abilities.

    Learn the essentials of playing the ukulele in this introductory course. You’ll learn complete songs from the first lesson. Strumming patterns will be taught and applied to various songs. By the end of term you should be able to accompany your own singing or play along to recordings.

  5. Jazz harmony, ear training and ensembles: intermediate

    Develop your jazz musicianship, repertoire, playing and improvising. Practise ear training, study jazz harmony, learn challenging repertoire. For players with established jazz education at foundation level. Assessment for entry to this course can be arranged after you apply to music@citylit.ac.uk. Break week: 29th October.

    This established ensemble sings original arrangements of jazz and popular songs. Develop your listening, timing, intonation, musical memory, and team work. New members with good music reading and aural skills are welcome. We perform every term. Our class sessions are a mix of classroom and 'zoomsingland'.

  7. Jazz guitar: styles and techniques

    Explore jazz styles and repertoire, chord/scale vocabulary, jazz harmony, time feels, accompanying and improvisation. Ideal if you have established guitar technique and are new to jazz.

  8. Jazz harmony, ear training and ensembles: advanced

    For this 3rd term of the year course we focus on ear training and jazz improvisation, applying theoretical understanding to practical ensemble situations. We will learn more jazz standards and unusual repertoire. This is musicianship training at a high level. New students may apply to music@citylit.ac.uk to arrange your assessment to join this class.
