An exciting and rigorous one-year part-time training in the core disciplines of acting. Taught by industry professionals, this course will build your craft as an actor and is ideal for anyone intending to enter full time training at drama school.



The course fee is £2225, plus an upfront fee of £525 payable at the time of your enrolment.



If you are unable to pay the course fee upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the cost. Ballet body conditioning combines specifically sequenced exercises including elements of barre, floor work and centre practice and is designed to complement studies in ballet and acting. Ideal for those who already have good physical awareness and have studied a dance discipline at a basic level.

This course is perfect for those who are new to Ballroom dance or looking to brush up on existing skills. Taught in a friendly and supportive atmosphere you will learn the basic steps and techniques of both Ballroom and Latin dance. No partner is required to join the course. You will perform with different members of the class, acquire some great dance knowledge and with the added benefit of feeling healthier! Please note: There is no class on Saturday 25 May 2024.

Our classes are designed to expand and develop your repertoire of steps as well as help you polish off your technique to become more confident on the dance floor when you are attending social dances or other special events. This course is perfect for those who have completed our Beginner’s programme or equivalent.



Students will build on their presentation skills by using their arms, hands and legs while dancing the three routines. Please note: There is no class on Saturday 25 May 2024.

Are you a non-native fluent speaker who wants to improve your pronunciation of English and to speak the language more clearly and confidently? Work on clear formation of vowel and consonant sounds including the English neutral vowel and the distinction between voiced and unvoiced sounds. This term the course will be taught in the college.

Discover the pleasure of playing in small, mixed instrumental ensembles, one per part, in a variety of repertoire. For classical instrumentalists at grade 5/6 or above. Due to the demanding nature of most piano parts, pianists should play at Grade 8 level or higher. Good sight reading skills and experience in chamber music are required. Break week 23rd May.

Do you want to know more about classical music history? Explore selected topics and key works in Baroque to Classical music on this highly informative 10 week course. Ideal for people with no specialist knowledge. Please note this course has a scheduled mid-term break: 30 May 2024.

Join us to explore the history of opera over three enjoyable terms. In this third term we’ll explore Verdi, Wagner and the early 20th century. Break week: 30 May 2024.

A course for recorder players to develop technique further, explore repertoire, and learn how to play both solo and in ensemble. Suitable for those with at least one year's playing experience, and confident in music-reading. Break week: 29 May 2024.

A performance class for singers who have completed Sing jazz 1 and 2. Develop and maintain your vocal technique, jazz and blues style, presentation of repertoire, and learn relevant musicianship.

If you already play jazz and can recognise intervals and 7th chords in sequence, extend your aural, harmonic and rhythmic skill through the study of jazz standards and improvisation. Our sessions involve playing as an ensemble. New students who wish to join this 3rd term are welcome to apply to music@citylit.ac.uk.

If you are already experienced in recorder ensemble playing, join this small, friendly group to look at developing consort playing skills in Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary styles. Break week: 29 May 2024.

An ensemble for musicians interested in learning the skills of playing consort music in different instrumental combinations (broken consort). It will be a journey exploring the variety of sound combinations in 17th century repertoire. Break week: 29 May 2024.

Looking at ten of the operas coming up in the 2024 season, we will discuss their composition, context, controversies and style, and then hear the story of the opera through musical examples. Break week 30th May 2024.
