Practise and develop your acting skills by rehearsing scenes with an experienced tutor and actor. This course is suitable for experienced students who have completed a range of our acting courses or who have gained suitable experience elsewhere.

Broaden your skills and explore your director's voice in greater depth. Work on various modern and classical pieces, and select your own material.

Continue your development as you explore a range of exercises and acting techniques that will illuminate and enliven a variety of scripts and scenes. Consolidate techniques and deepen your understanding in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

Broaden your skills and discover the freedom to act with classical text in a safe and fun environment, playing with a range of texts from Ibsen to Oscar Wilde. Gain the confidence to tackle different styles of language and performance through practical exercises and scene work.

An exciting and rigorous one-year part-time training in the core disciplines of acting. Taught by industry professionals, this course will build your craft as an actor and is ideal for anyone intending to enter full time training at drama school.



The course fee is £2225, plus an upfront fee of £525 payable at the time of your enrolment.



If you are unable to pay the course fee upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the cost. A wonderful opportunity to be part of a theatre company working alongside an experienced professional director and a team of techical theatre students to stage a play from scratch in six weeks. Use your previous practical training in acting in the context of the performance of a full production in the John Lyons Theatre at City Lit, giving four public performances.

This term, the play is Ivanov by Chekhov, in an English version by Tom Stoppard, directed by Robert Cavanah.

Rehearse scenes and speeches from various Shakespeare's plays. Create vivid performances that are both true to life and true to Shakespeare’s language.

Enrich and develop your skills in this improvisation course. Discover how to improvise dramatically, and apply your skills in an end of term public performance in our in house theatre.

Come together with others to explore the work of different playwrights, share the spoken word and gain insight into different plays. These fun and friendly sessions are for people who would like to read and discuss plays under the guidance of a theatre professional. Working in a supportive atmosphere you will read out loud and discuss the main themes of a range of both contemporary and classic texts. The two plays that will be read are 'Lysistrata' by Aristophanes (Patric Dickinson translation) and 'Three Birds' by Janice Okoh.
