Explore the composers and makers who shaped the keyboard into one of the most versatile and popular instruments of all time, and learn about history, style, genre and function through guided listening and score reading. Improve the quality and clarity of your voice through posture, breath capacity and control, articulation, forward placement and pitch. For anyone who wants to make the most of their voice. This course will be taught in the college.

Practise and develop your acting skills by rehearsing scenes in detail. Engage with the fundamentals of performance in front of a live invited audience in our John Lyons Theatre in the final session.

Come to play tunes from several traditions and two continents, working with complex rhythms in related and contrasting ways. There is a musical narrative that begins in Africa, travels to the Caribbean and South America, then back to Africa, carrying musical styles and rhythmic patterns. We will explore samples of this rhythmic timeline.







Piano places are limited to two so please check with the department prior to enrolling if you want to play piano on this course.

For this 3rd term of the year course we focus on ear training and jazz improvisation, applying theoretical understanding to practical ensemble situations. We will learn more jazz standards and unusual repertoire. This is musicianship training at a high level. Continue your development as you explore a range of acting exercises that will illuminate and bring to life a variety of scripts and scenes. Consolidate skills and techniques, and deepen your understanding in a safe and supportive atmosphere. We will focus on ensemble and group scenes this term.

Jacques Lecoq’s style of theatre training is in the body, it involves exploration of ourselves and the world we live in with a sense of curious play. Lecoq revolutionised the format of theatre craft and his style and techniques are recognised as essential tools to any professional working actor, in its most basic or grandest of themes. It is a style that hugs you warmly and sticks with you, adaptable and diverse.



The Lecoq technique is about the performers engagement, listening physically and their connection in the space, working together as an ensemble, devising your own work and finding new ways to do it are essential.

In our 3rd year of study you will develop your aural, harmonic and rhythmic sense through the study of jazz standards, improvisation and transcription. Most sessions involve playing as an ensemble, guided by aural skill and academic knowledge.

Do you enjoy vintage social dancing events but don't have a partner? Looking to nail those moves and increase your freestyle confidence? Then this is the course for you! We will work on foot-work sequences and steps of authentic jazz dancing and Rhythm & Blues Strolls, progressing to faster pace flick kicks and turns for jive and Rock ’n' Roll dances. No partner required! This is a general level course suitable for beginners and improvers.

Character voices aren’t just for cartoons. Learn the tools and techniques you need to create new and unique character voices or to accurately imitate a historical or contemporary voice for animation, stage and screen. This course will be delivered in the media studio.

This workshop is about having fun, recreating and learning all the famous TikTok dances - short choreographed routines set to popular songs or sounds. At the start of each class there will be a 15-20 min warm up to get you in the mood. Our professional dancer will then break down the steps and teach you how to execute and perfect them.
