Performing Arts Courses & Classes in London and Online

Learn how to hold the cello and bow, how the instrument works, and play some simple tunes by the end of the session. Please bring your own instrument. The music department have a few cellos available to borrow. These are distributed on a first come-first served basis. Please contact music@citylit.ac.uk to check availability.

Learn how to express your physicality in a dynamic fashion and gain basic knowledge of the main principles of contemporary dance, with influences from other techniques. General level - suitable for both beginners and improvers.

Rodgers and Hammerstein - Together they created a series of innovative and influential American musicals. Their musical theatre writing partnership has been called the greatest of the 20th century. We will be looking at some of the big ensemble numbers from shows such as Oklahoma, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music alongside a couple of lesser known shows. Alongside soloists required for the ensemble numbers you are invited to bring a piece of your choosing from the vast catalogue of songs by these exceptional composers. If you are new to tap then this is the place to start. Come and find your dancing feet. Suitable for students of all ages with good general fitness. Tap shoes are essential.

If you already play ukulele, perhaps you have followed uke 1 and 2, come and learn new songs, chord theory, picking and split strokes, and apply these to popular and vintage tunes. Enjoy learning in a group. Classes will include singing along.

This course is for players who have been learning violin/viola for two to three years (playing at Grade 2-3 standard), take the next step to learn vibrato, positions above 1st, and improved bow control. This course continues with Violin and viola 3B next term.

A course for those who have been playing violin/viola for about a year, know the G/D/A major scale finger pattern and basic music notation. Learn to play a variety of musical styles in a friendly class. Continues to Violin and viola 2B next term. Break week: 28 Oct 2024.

This course is for students who have played Bb clarinet for at least a year. Come and improve your technique and performance skills, and explore a variety of styles and repertoire. Continues to Clarinet 2B next term.

An ensemble ukulele class with individual parts. For experienced players who read chord symbols and tablature, although tab reading is not a mandatory requirement. Challenging and fun - the music/repertoire will be tailored to your various abilities.

We will focus on developing ballet technique using barre, centre work and allegro exercises. Suitable for those who have completed at least one year of our beginner's ballet classes or equivalent and have a good grasp of the basic techniques and terminology.

Practice and improve your basic tap skills and increase your vocabulary of steps and sequences. Gain a greater understanding of rhythm, tempo and syncopation. Suitable for students of all ages with good general fitness. Tap shoes are essential.
